Real—time bus arrival information extended to 20 more bus stops

SINGAPORE : Commuters will be able to get real—time bus arrival information at 20 more bus stops by May.

This comes after a survey by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) found that over 90 percent of commuters voted for more of such panels.

The additional panels will be installed from Monday at bus stops with a high volume of commuter traffic.

Ten of the bus stops will be in the Central Business District and the rest around Singapore.

Last July, the LTA rolled out a pilot project at 30 selected bus stops.

And from this July, to help commuters making transfers between rail and buses, panels at the bus stops near Bugis and Chinatown MRT stations will also display the arrival times of rail services at those stations.

Two more panels with the same information will be installed at both stations’ entrances from July.

The LTA is also extending another well—received feature, the Key Bus Services Maps — which details bus routes and places of interests — to the Chinatown vicinity and to more areas on Orchard Road by the second half of this year. — CNA/ms

It's extremely disheartening to know that other people visiting STOMP had replies such as "Bus driver compromised the safety of other passengers for this lady" and "Bus driver speed to catch up lah".

One should have the basic knowledge that even without speeding, vehicles can still catch up with one another due to traffic equipment like traffic lights. What makes these bloody childish idiots think that SG bus drivers speed?

Grow up STOMPers, you're still 3 years' old after so many cases regarding public buses. When will you learn to accept facts and not blabber rubbish?

I've already condemned STOMPers long ago. It's now a daily source of laughter for me.   angel.png

Its competition man.. Obviously the 25 would want to be in front of the 854.. and after that the 25 will wayang in front of the 854.. Though drivers of both services are rather friendly towards each other because both services help the loads interchangably.

    • i think that S25 driver die liao. he gotta explain whether he was speeding or traffic conditions really allowed him to catch up with that S854.

some more the STOMPer give precise timings complete with rego plate.

      if 25 or 854 came together, i'd take 854! smile.png

Feeder buses to run more frequently during peak hours

SINGAPORE: The Public Transport Council (PTC) has set a new service standard for buses running feeder services, stating that 85% of such bus services should run at intervals of no more than 10 minutes during weekday peak hours.

This is from August 2008, and a year later, 90% of SBS and SMRT buses that run feeder services must adhere to this 10—minute standard.

The one—year period to ensure that 90% of feeder services run at no more than 10 minutes is to allow bus operators to increase their pool of buses and drivers.

The PTC said the latest mark is over and above the existing standard which requires eight out of 10 bus services, including trunk and feeder services, to run at 10—minute intervals during peak hours by August 2009.

The move is part of the Quality of Service (QoS) standards for basic bus services introduced by the PTC in 2006.

During the six—monthly review of services by bus operators from June to November 2007, the PTC found that while both SBS and SMRT were able to meet most of the QoS standards, there was room for improvements.

This includes the need to have better connectivity by buses to the public transport hubs and the number of passengers ferried. — CNA/sf

Would you like it if people laugh at you when you are a beginner player of a game?

The public isn't like us, they don't know how buses were being run. Hence their rediculous comments abt it.

They like to chiong on their ZF bendies... =D

Actually it's because their timetables are a bit tighter hence the faster driving speeds.

Service 24 has to enter CGA tunnel so double decks are impossible but I feel that service 66 should have DDs. It gets packed to the door.

Come on lah be realistic. SBST only has so much DDs. It's impossible to put on every single service you want.

There are height issues along Bukit Timah Rd and Dunearn Rd (Barker stretch)

      Bro..
You should take full trip for 66 and tell me whether DDs can be put on that service.

    • What if they change 66 to ply Stevens rd -> Scotts Rd instead of Dunearn Rd
      Will that help?

      OR: Crazy idea

      66 remains, all single deck
66M plies Stevens Rd -> Scotts Rd and that can use double decks.
