look, the reason why i flare up here is because i vividly
remember him only asking abt CCL & then the mod decided to make
it neater & changed the thread title since his title was very
informal(forum users like SBS2695H like formality)

& now with such "i'm the TS, i have the right,
dono-which-stupid-mod change title" attitude, i think you really
need to look into yourself & understand what has been going
on..

be fortunate enough that this is only happening here & not when
you start work or what...

cityshopper is a good effort but sadly, overpriced. well, at least
this is what i feel. even though i wanted to try it, the BC put the
terminating plate up when he was heading to town(spent 25mins at
bus stop & 2 "terminating" 576s came). an ideal price would be
$2.50. if their nightriders can operate at $2.50, i dont see why
their cityshoppers cant. if need be, only have it on weekends then.
but i must say the first & last few trips on weekdays do have a
healthy load.

also, why is 578/581 so expensive at $3.60. i dont see why it is
more expensive than the rest. it isnt that far too anyway. we all
know how fare stages jump like crazy on express sectors. <img src=
in an effort to make premium services really "premium", they fail
to see that demand would improve if prices were made to be lower.
with more passengers paying a lower price, they may even make a
handsome profit running their cityshopper services.

I only need to pay $1.00 only:))

Disagree. NEL also sees high loading during peak hour. If they want
people to convert to public transport, they need to minimise such
peak hour squeeze into NEL trains.

They should have realised by now, the NEL rationalisation
exercise of 2003 was much of a mistake. NEL's peak hour loads is
definitely comparable to NSL's, if not more.

But I disagree with you, NSL has way higher loads than NEL,
truth is, I can't board a Northbound train during PM peak at Yio
Chu Kang (don't even think of Novena or Toa Payoh) but I can still
board NEL (with a bit of squeezing) at Dhoby Ghaut during PM Peak.
I must say that the NSL and EWL rationalisation, which saw old
services like 3, 4, 8, 28, 104, 134, 140, 141, 146, 148, 163
(scaled back), 168 gone among a host of others (let those older bus
fans say cos I dunno all) were greater in terms of impact than the
NEL one.

Also do note that you can start getting seats by the time NEL
reaches Kovan, or even Serangoon during PM peak, and for NSL during
the same time, forget about it unless you kena a train which is
behind a late one.

Strongly agree with you. I think costs of the cityshopper
service is a major impediment to higher demand and utilisation of
the cityshopper services. Instead of contemplating about scrapping
more direct services, I will suggest of lowering the costs of
cityshopper services to allow more seats to be filled up.

The idea of dollar/minute should be the same or just slightly
higher for taking a direct cityshopper service or taking a
feeder bus and making a transfer to the MRT.

In fact we need more direct/express services if the
LTA really
wants to encourage more people to take public transport. In fact
all the Cityshopper services (except 580) can be
converted to Express Service and operate full day, and
those working at Orchard Road Can benefit.

Perhaps the bus companies here should take out the
unpredictability in taking buses. That would solve many problems.
Ultimately the objective is have a very dependable system - such
that cars are absolutely not necesary at all.
