Anyone currently playing the Nintendo Wii ? May i get some reviews abt it like hows the game ? Issit fun and where to get cheaper wii if i were to buy 1 . And Is it worth it to modify my set to play pirated games and where ? I really think of buying one after my bonus but still dunno if the games are really good anot ley . Last but not least whats the different between jap , us or local set version ?

I have bought a nintendo wii for over 2 weeks.
I choose nintendo wii over PS3 as I was looking for a new gaming experience.
The final verdict?
Nintendo wii definitely provide a whole new gaming experience!
Initially, I thought the controller can at most simulate something like a gun and be fun for playing shooting games.
But NO! It was so much much more!!
The controller itself could detect slashing, swing movement ,pushing, pulling, even minor tilting. And of course to act as a gun for first person shooter. So it provide a whole new perception to gaming.
The controller itself comes with a speaker. So expect to hear swords clanking, gunshots , laser beeps coming right from your hand.
So far , I have played Tomb raider, prince of persia , mario galaxy , legend of zelda twilight princess , wii sports , resident evil on wii.
The console design is sleek and attractive. It is very light weight also.
It is definitely better than any console on the market right now!
A great must buy!

indeed new gaming experience...played it @ my friend's house. its like u're in an arcade

Miserable hardware specification - the processor is based on the Pentium III processor and there's no High Definition output unlike PS3 and Xbox 360.

Tangdynasty , may i know how much you bought your wii and is it modded to play pirated games ? If modded do you kjnow how it is modded like for example a chip soldered in or just wires to bypass the circuitry or what ? And is the modification reversible ? I find that sg market very little wii games compared to JB . I not reffering to the pirated games but rather is the legal games for wii . i really see more original wii games in JB then sg i wonder why .

I bought my wii system in Bangkok,Thailand. It is a europe model.
Cost around 700sgd free 10 non original games, one single controller. It is mod to play pirated games. However I have no idea what they do to mod it. I just pay then take. So sorry.
I have check with friend that it cost about 500 sgd to purchase a wii in singapore. But it is a japan model. That means the interface is in japanese , I bought it about 2 weeks ago, so the price might have flatuate.

The whole concept is for players to get up and exercise.

I notice some stores selling local version offering 1 yr warranty selling at $659 with some accesories while some stores like the powerhub at bugis parco i dunno what version they have but they only gave 3 months warranty selling for $649 . I find it very funny ley , how come so short 3 month warranty nia .

Probably it is a modified set, that's why the warranty not from nintendo but from the shop itself?? That's why only short term. This I really not sure le.
But even under warranty, when you send in for repair, the shop owner say this part or that part spolit need to pay dunno how much, waranty not cover, you also suck thumb , right?
Anyway, I felt if can tahan 2 weeks not spolit, I think is okay already la.

I not saying i only want my wii to last for 2 weeks. What I saying is if you can play it for 2 weeks without any problem, probably that means the set is ok.

Anyone here can recomend a good place to buy the nintendo Wii ? Cos i think i'm buying it soon after i get my AWS Anyone knows where to get the best bargains modded or non modded ?

But if you buy unmodded one, Singapore's games really quite limited and expensive ley...

I found 2 shop selling the mod version (ie Jap model) Selling for $580 w/o the sports game. Anyone have the mod version?? Is it's worth to have it mod?? The salesman say only the menu is in Jap else will be according to the games in English.! true or not???

I think he meant the game format would be the same as English version but most wordings, menu, introductions and conversations would be written in Japanese...?

I'm not sure... The other time I was also pretty tempted to buy a Japanese game, but after thinking through... I was afraid that it might be all Japanese and I'm not versed in it...

I also appreciate some of the attending staff in certain shops which gave me much information I needed regarding the games and such... Just encourages me to buy when I have more confidence in what I'm getting... (of course, if they lie to me and tell me sh|t which isn't true, I'll just go back... Make demands and f*ck them...)

I also believe I've got some answers to the internet connection thingy..? Though What I heard from the shop doesn't really sound right.. But hmm.. I shall try to find out more....?

Btw.. I also think that if you intend to buy a mod version... It's important that you can get a good supply of the games you're interested in.... See if you get get that, and check out the price of the Mod games before you jump into any purchase....?

All I can say is that it's gonna be a different kinda gaming experience...

If you're more like what you've described yourself to be... Then I believe PS3 or Xbox might be a better option for you...?

But if you're looking out for a different gaming experience... Something more 'healthy' and perhaps a more interactive game type which can be played among friends and couples.... Wii might just be what you're looking for?

Well i am aware of the graphics that the PS3 and the Xbox360 can offer but i believe there are some of us who are tired of just sitting down there pressing buttons cultivating our belly . Actually the nintendo Wii is also able to offer some decent graphics but of cos not as good as PS3 or Xbox360 but it stand on its own unique playability lor . As pple can both exercise and slim down while playing the game shaking n swinging its controller which is good for health also .
