    • Last week I saw the classified looking for taxi relief and stated that no deposit with the taxi company needed, I wonder how they can do that.

    • really… anyway chua… why you so concerned about the $1 refundable deposit? Force saving meh haha…. For me $1K with a big taxi company is ok lah esp comfort or smrt… but must be careful with small taxi company like prime or smart

for me more important is the rental, diesel after rebate price, accident excess, other monetary benefit…

    • Sorry for not being clear...the classified is obviously not from the taxi companies, it was ads by the hirer, I believe. Not really concern about the $1K, just using this forum to discuss as I'm curious why taxi companies require deposit from relief and yet these hirer able to let the relief drive without deposit.

    • My opinion as what Guru already said look like you are very concern with what your investments and the return. U know the Deposit which you contributed to the company is all refundable Lah. If you Start with Citycab or Comfort, the first deposit $250 within a month from my experience from the collection already you can cover from your earning to pay them, just think this is saving just temporary deposited to their account. Ask yourself your earning, who contributed to you as an Taxi Driver. So customers is the answer. So dun worry so much all about the Deposit and all the money involve U to be a Taxi driver. Your next obsticle is the test and all those lessons you must know. Before you final said graduated from Taxi Acadamy with your certificate.

If you got your Vocation Licence and the certificate, the next the Taxi in your hand. Your final test come is the customers destination and can you make it on how you move-on the Singapore roads, this is another question you need to monitor. This is your main worry.

    • Ok , the main reason for the security deposit is meant for accident access .

Many cabbies got into an accident la  , their fault , and they quit . Without paying any cents .

So Comfort implement such rulings since .

wow , u haven't seen Honda Airwave yellow top , those Fiats ? Those Toyota pickups as taxi ? I also seen Toyota Felder , many brands of them on the road .

Most scrapped liao opt for a CNG cabs ......

They bought the cab like buying new cars , pay financial companies like loaning a car , pay loan lor ....

Their loan is like our rental .

Last time COE expensive , LTA dun release licenses to taxi companies , has to buy from private owner , they then sold their ownership to Comfort , for $8000 .

Then LTA changed policy , taxi companies can buy whatever amount of taxi they want , no restriction , then this buy-over policy also scrapeped , no value liao .

    • Hi Poolman,

Read in thread 4+ yrs comfort cab $88 --->scrap--->owner get Sonata + lower rent.

My target rental is $45, consider sunday no extra surcharge + lower booking fee, etc. Realistic or not?

Any piece of advice will be greatly appreciated......Thkz.

    • hi jonp,

my experience is sunday many hirers want to let it out… no problem to find lah… just put your particulars in DOES… but if you want lower than $52 then maybe search a bit longer….

when u negotiate, look out for items such as washing and diesel arrangement too… they add up…

other non money issues also matters… location, chemistry with hirer etc… to me those are more important than $5 difference

      i ever drove a crown sunday nite… $30 rental…but that is sunday nite shift…

if you just starting new, my advice is just take up a standard rate at your same carpark… drive and see… if better offer comes along, you can always change… maybe then you hirer may counter offer you… haha… relief is king… part time relief is chief of kings….dont say that to pool…

    • sunday driving got disadvantage and advantage…

most important is whether it fits your schedule… family day???

advantage is no jam, less competitors, good connection, short q (except airport)

      disadvantage is no surcharge lah…

for me, i hate looking for pax most. followed by jam, then short trips…. So sunday day shift not bad for me… but me prefer to rest on sunday… so Sunday is out…

    • Think sunday is perfect for new driver to drive and get a hang of it first.

Cos no ERP headache... no CBD taxi stand rule or even bus lane rule...less stress.

    • 5am to 5pm - crown $45 , reasonable la .

      5am to 5pm - Sonata $53 , maximum . Which could includes of washing of taxi ,

Try nego , $53-$54 , no need to wash , cos washing needs 30 minutes minimum , but 30 minutes u can actually make $20 , so the a dollar nothing la .

The best is 6am to 6pm , but i hardly can see u can get .

      usually 5am to 5pm ..... or vice versa .

      12pm to 2.00pm , usually consistent ...... but after 3pm , all town ! Housing area dead liao ....

      Tat's a day shift pattern .

    • Got some hirers , they do let out whole day .

But they willing to discount $20 for the Sunday whole day relief .

Like myself , rental $101. I charged my whole day sunday relief $80 .

I tamba $10 , my usual relief tamba $10 , so both we off .

      everybody's happy .
